Salep what?
Salep tasting tonight in Lev Dhall, thanks to Harvard’s Food Literacy Project (FLP) and Leverett’s own FLP Rep, Judy Fan, who put together this awesome event and info sheet about salep!:
(Click on the photo and zoom in to enlarge!)
Lisa and I both tried the salep (or salep imitation, I should say…see info sheet) with hot milk, cinnamon, and orange blossom water. Neither of us...

Say hello to my new friend!
I’ve always wanted an immersion blender, and thanks to my super awesome roommate and secret santa LISA, I got a very cute one today, complete with cute little green beaker/mixing cup! I think the cute-factor was my main reason for wanting one, but immersion blenders are also very good for preparing sauces, soups, hummus, etc. with minimal clean up. HOORAY!

Tasty burgers for lunch at Houston’s in Boston today with Shang - my awesome consultant/photographer friend and all-around extraordinary person! If you haven’t experienced her amazing photo work yet…DO IT NOW!
Houston’s was a great pick for lunch (thanks Shang!) - and we got there just early enough to get a table before the noon rush poured...

Fruit smoothies with honey.
Like salads, smoothies are super easy to make, versatile, nutritious, and very yummy. They can even persuade me to voluntarily and happily consume one of my most despised foods - honey. Blegh :P
I hate the taste of honey. My mom tells me nearly every day (not exaggerating) that I should take at least a spoonful of honey each day to reap it’s benefits - better digestion, skin, etc. - and...

Pomelo Pepper Salad
Salads are pretty much the easiest things in the world to make - they require no real cooking and minimal preparation, and you can put whatever you want in them. Plus, they are super healthy (if you stick to using healthy ingredients, of course :P) and refreshing. Experimenting with different ingredients is my favorite part - I love being surprised by how unexpectedly tasty some of my wacky...

Hello O'ahu!
Snapshots from a much needed family vacation in Honolulu and other parts of O’ahu (warning: monster post with lots of photos and good eats!):
Day 1:
Sunrise view from the top of Diamond Head crater, one of Oahu’s most famous landmarks. A great place to take a morning hike before the sun starts blazing :)
Rainforest hike at Manoa Falls, very Avatar-esque and full of lush plant...
